Roderick Lakin MBE
Music administrator and arts patron Roderick Lakin is the Director of Arts for the Royal Over-Seas League, London.
Born in Scotland, Lakin studied at St John’s College, Oxford and the University of Aberdeen. He began his musical career working at the Oxford Playhouse and Roundhouse Theatre in London before becoming Director of the Society for the Promotion of New Music in 1978 and then Director of Arts for the Royal Over-Seas League (ROSL) from 1984.
In his current Directorship, Roderick Lakin has expanded and developed international arts initiatives that have supported musicians in the UK and abroad. The annual ROSL Music Competition regularly features over 300 competitors and is responsible for numerous professional alumni.
In 2004, Roderick Lakin was awarded an MBE for his work in music administration. In 2007, he became an Honorary Associate of the Royal Academy of Music.
